Digitalisierungsstrategie der Internationalen Zusammenarbeit

Created: 2024 Category:
Stakeholders: Thematic focus: Digital Transformation

In an increasingly digital world, the PTB has developed a digitalization strategy for its international cooperation activities. This strategy aims to enhance both the internal digital capabilities of PTB's project implementation and support partner institutions—especially in developing and emerging countries—in navigating their own digital transformation. The strategy focuses on four key areas: integrating digital tools in project execution, strengthening digital infrastructure and skills among partner institutions, promoting digitally transformed quality infrastructures (QI), and leveraging QI to facilitate digital change in critical sectors like renewable energy, agriculture, and manufacturing. By fostering reliable data, standards, and digital services, PTB's approach ensures that digital transformation contributes to sustainable development goals (SDGs) and improves the efficiency, accessibility, and resilience of quality systems globally.

Building Legal Frameworks for a Future-Proof Quality Infrastructure

Created: 2025 Category: Development of Quality Infrastructure systems and services
Stakeholders: Thematic focus: UNIDO

This publication, jointly developed by PTB and the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), explores the critical role of legal frameworks in supporting and advancing national Quality Infrastructure (QI) systems. QI—including metrology, standardization, accreditation, and conformity assessment—is foundational for enabling safe, reliable products and services, facilitating trade, and achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The report presents guiding principles for the legal structuring of QI systems, aligning them with international practices and ensuring their adaptability in the face of global challenges such as climate change, digitalization, and social equity. Through sector-specific examples and legal guidance, it emphasizes the need for coordinated, transparent, and inclusive legal mechanisms to empower QI as a tool for sustainable economic development, innovation, and social well-being.
