The metrological and meteorological communities started a closer cooperation at the international level through the activities of the Bureau International des Poids et Mesures (BIPM) and the World Meteorological Organization, recognizing the need and value of assuring accurate meteorological measurements at international, regional and national levels. This leaflet describes the efforts carried out in the Caribbean in that respect.
The objective of the project is that “quality infrastructure services that meet national needs are available to the photovoltaic sector”. This objective should be achieved through three outputs: (1) strengthening the capacity of the quality infrastructure institutions for the photovoltaic sector, (2) identifying the needs of the national industry and private and public users of photovoltaic installations in terms of quality infrastructure services, and (3) agreeing on the elements needed to improve the framework conditions for quality assurance in the photovoltaic sector.
This project seeks to increase cooperation between Latin American and Caribbean quality infrastructure organizations, and especially to increase their awareness of and technical capacities for the circular economy. Competencies of the Inter-American Metrology System (SIM), the Inter-American Accreditation Cooperation (IAAC), the Pan American Standards Commission (COPANT), and their respective national members will be strengthened. It will furthermore support quality infrastructure services in Latin America and the Caribbean to foster the development towards a circular economy within the region. To this end, collaboration and networking of stakeholders in both quality infrastructure and the circular economy will be promoted.
