The project aimed to enhance Ghana’s National Metrology Institute (NMI) by identifying service needs, strengthening metrological capacities, and ensuring financial sustainability. This supports industry, science, and consumer protection while securing long-term operational stability.
This project aims to strengthen the national quality infrastructure (QI) to support sustainable economic development in Tunisia. By enhancing QI services—particularly in the chemical and electrical/electronic sectors—the initiative helps laboratories and businesses meet both national and international standards, especially regarding environmental protection and sustainable development. It promotes the efficient use of resources, improved product quality, and greater consumer safety. Through capacity building, stakeholder engagement, and better coordination between public QI institutions and private industry, the project fosters innovation, competitiveness, and a more resilient economy aligned with sustainability goals.
This project supports the development of a robust quality infrastructure to enable the growth of the renewable energy sector in Tunisia. In line with national strategies for energy, industry, and innovation, the project strengthens the technical and institutional capacities of quality infrastructure organizations to meet international standards related to safety, quality, and sustainability. Ultimately, this contributes to a just and environmentally sound energy transition, benefitting Tunisia’s economy and society while supporting global climate goals.
This evaluation assesses the four-year regional project (2020–2024) led by PTB in cooperation with the Organization of American States and regional quality infrastructure (QI) institutions to enhance the role of QI in supporting circular economy (CE) transitions in Latin America and the Caribbean. Using OECD-DAC evaluation criteria, the project was rated positively across relevance (1.8), coherence (2.5), effectiveness (1.5), efficiency (2.0), impact (1.5), and sustainability (1.7). The project successfully facilitated institutional capacity building, regional cooperation, and integration of QI services into CE frameworks using tools like CABUREK and CALIDENA. Despite some limitations in inter-agency collaboration and the evolving definition of CE, the evaluation found significant contributions to policy development, service innovation, and cross-border partnerships. The project is shown to have strengthened the strategic and technical readiness of regional QI systems to support sustainable, circular economic models.
This project, which was implemented in cooperation with Indian authorities, strengthens the quality infrastructure for water monitoring along the Ganges River in Delhi, Uttarakhand, and Uttar Pradesh. By supporting laboratories and regulatory bodies, the initiative ensures that water quality data are accurate, reliable, and legally valid. It enhances technical capacity for sampling, analysis, and reporting, thereby enabling better environmental decision-making, enforcement of regulations, and public accountability. The project contributes to national efforts to rejuvenate the Ganges under the Namami Gange Programme and supports global Sustainable Development Goals, particularly on water quality and sustainable urban environments.
